Level of Difficulty:  Moderate

Trail Markings: Blazed in Red

Horse Camping: Yes

Horseback riding is authorized on all State Forest roads and trails, with the exception of those trails designated off limits to horses at the Kennerdell Tract in Venango County.
Primitive Horse Camping is available. High lines are allowed in designated areas. Free to stay, however, camping permits are required from the District Office.

Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate, some rocks and short hills.

Horse Camping: Yes

You may call for reservation, however, they are not required. Camping is primitive, with a porta pot available and the cost is $10 per night. Showers are available for use at the family campground. High lines and portable corrals are permitted. Please use smart horsemanship as fines are imposed for tree damage in the campground and throughout the park. Please scatter manure, no pile dumping. Water is available for your horses.

Equestrian trails consist of two main loops:
Outer loop (red).
Inner loop (red/white).
Connectors (black/white).

  • Pritchard Road is no longer a day-use parking area for horses.

  • Note the trail closure marked in yellow.

Annual logging operations occur throughout the park and may cause some trails to be closed occasionally.  Please respect trail closures.
